As the saying goes well, “A friend in need is a friend indeed.” This means that a real friend is one you can depend on when you need help. During your whole life, you make friends in many different places─at school, at clubs, at work, and even in Internet chatrooms. Having good friends is important; everyone needs friends to talk and have a good time with. Good friends like and trust each other. They usually like the same things, and they often share their problems and help each other.
Sometimes, however, people’s different expectations of friendship may lead to a disagreement between friends. For example, one person may expect to share everything, but the other person would rather keep things private, or, one friend may tell others something that was meant to be a secret. This is the time when friends often fight. However, good friends will try to settle their arguments, and this often brings them closer together.
The famous American writer, Ralph Waldo Emerson, wrote that “the only way to have a friend is to be one.” Be the best friend that you can, by listening and caring, and hopefully, you will discover that your friends treat you the same way.
